Little Diver: Duikers dive into thick undergrowth to hide from predators; hence, the name duiker which means "diver" in Afrikaans.

Yellow-backed Duiker
Cephalophus silvicultor

Living in thick forest, these small antelopes rely on scents to communicate. Duikers rub scent glands under their eyes on branches to mark their territory, on mates during courtship, and on young to familiarize them with the scent. Males will rub the glands on each other aggressively in competition.

Height: 2 to3 ft

Weight: 100 to 175 lbs

Lifespan: 10 to 15 years in captivity

Habitat: Dense tropical forest

Diet: Bark, shoots, buds, seeds, fruits, fungi, herbs and some small animals
