Black-casqued Wattled Hornbill
Ceratogymna atrata

Black-casqued wattled hornbills gather in the canopy of fruiting trees to forage and disperse the seeds as they travel from tree to tree. The black-casqued wattled hornbill’s blaring calls carry more than a mile through the forest. Hunters have learned that imitating the bird’s call will attract other hornbills to the area, making it easy to bag many birds in a short period of time. The birds are then sold at markets for their meat.
