Act Wild!
Every family, child and adult can make a difference for wildlife
through their
actions. The Zoo’s Act Wild! campaign is here to help you learn how. Look
for this web page to grow with more tips and suggestions on enjoying and helping
wildlife as the Zoo presents a series of wildlife-themed events.
Conservation starts with you in your own home. Print this list of everyday things
your family can do to help wildlife and take the Act Wild! pledge.
Act Wild! Pledge
I, _______________________, pledge to Act Wild! for wildlife by making an effort
each day to: (check all that apply)
__ Learn more by reading nature books and magazines, watching nature shows on
TV, and taking Zoo classes.
__ Talk about wildlife with my family and friends.
__ Spend time outdoors.
__ Recycle, and reuse materials that can’t be recycled.
__ Buy environmentally-friendly products.
__ Share our outdoor space with wildlife.
__ Put up bird feeders, houses and baths.
__ Grow native plants, and not use chemicals on our lawn and garden.
__ Keep only domestic animals as pets.
__ Conserve energy by turning off lights and using rechargeable batteries.
__ Conserve water by taking short showers and turning off the faucet while brushing
our teeth.
__ Keep the environment clean by properly disposing of waste and picking up
litter.
__ Drive our car as little as possible.
__ Support the Zoo or other conservation organizations.
