  Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

The Zoo is supporting Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Ontario, Canada. Aspen Valley was founded in 1972 by Audrey Tournay, a high school teacher with a passion for saving orphaned and injured wildlife. Today the sanctuary encompasses 800 acres where five full-time staff cares for hundreds of animals every year.

The mission of Aspen Valley is to return orphaned and injured animals to the wild when the animals are ready. They also provide permanent homes for animals that cannot be released. The sanctuary also offers education programs designed to help people learn to coexist with native wildlife.

Aspen Valley is well known for their work with black bears, but also cares for other local wildlife such as raccoons, skunks, fawns, squirrels, foxes and groundhogs.
